Berlin Recycling Volleys decided to part ways with head coach Joel Banks, ending a two-year chapter.
The move comes after a season that has rarely felt settled. Although the BR Volleys managed to climb the Bundesliga table following a tough opening stretch, performances on the court continued to swing from strong to shaky. Club officials said the lack of consistency ultimately pushed them toward a change, even as results began to improve. Assistant coach Alexandre Leal will step into the head coach role on an interim basis, supported by co-trainer Markus Steuerwald.
The pair will have little time to ease into their new responsibilities. Their first test comes on Wednesday evening when Berlin travel to face SV Warnemünde in Bundesliga play.
