The team from the Lake of Constance are making their 16th appearance in Europe’s elite competition and they never missed on that since the CEV Volleyball Champions League was established back in the 2000/2001 season. Their best result to date is the first place they surprisingly seized seven years ago when they won the Final Four tournament held in Moscow, Russia.

Similarly to the past seasons, their goal is to take it step by step starting with the matches in the League Round where – apart from Zenit KAZAN – they will also play Olympiacos PIRAEUS of Greece and Austria’s Posojilnica AICH/DOB. In order to make the Playoff round VfB will have to finish first or second in the Pool.

Our goal is to finish second in the group,” says the long-time head coach of VfB Stelian Moculescu. “Zenit KAZAN is out of our reach. Therefore we must grab the opportunities we will be given in our matches with Olympiacos and AICH/DOB.” said Moculescu and added:

We have our chances but our first goal is to play as good as we can so that we can make things difficult for our opponents,”
