„Sergey (Grankin) was trying to play fast volleyball throughout whole tournament, but I restrained him. And then, finally, he gave us a quick game. Substitutions Markin and Berezhko? It’s the help from Almighty. He works with me, helps and guides me. In the first game against France we did not have our play. The French had courage. But now, the guys who have played less, went out and did their job,” Vladimir Alekno, the head coach of Russia said excitedly after the match.

Now, can you understand why Marouf play fast volleyball? the russian players did not want to play with him last year and they did not want Marouf. The king of fast volleyball.
Honestly? I don’t know, why he’s considered as one of the best setters. For me he plays only good and fast to zones 2 and 1.
Running sets (the sets with no block or maximum one block) are a good factor for rating setters and FIVB uses this criteria . look at his statistics in recent tornouments except WC2015 to know why?
Statistics on setter position for me, are bullshit. On other parts of game like attack or reception, we could judge with numbers, but not on setting.
In case you do not know, running sets signifies the fast sets that does not allow blockers to reach the ball.
