Only a few days after being swept in the playoff finals of the national championship by Panathinaikos A.O, Olympiacos S.F.P. already made first moves in building up the roster for the next season.
The Piraeus team parted ways with the Spanish head coach Fernando Muñoz after three years during which he led them to win the two Greek Championships and League Cups apiece. He was replaced with Dimitris Kazazis who has returned to Olympiacos after five years during which he was inactive. In his first staying with the “red and whites“ (2012 – 2015), he won 2 Greek Championships, Cups, and League Cups apiece.
Also, two players joined Olympiacos. The 30-year-old Serbian outside hitter Nikola Mijailović (last season in Rennes, France) and 29-year-old Latvian opposite hitter Hermans Egleskalns (Tours, France), who returned to the club after four seasons.
