Greece’s national champions Olympiacos PIRAEUS are returning back to Europe’s elite club competition and in about ten days they will start their adventure in the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. Their many fans simply can’t wait for that “D-Day” to come and especially for the home matches where Olympiacos will be hosting Russia’s Belogorie BELGOROD, Noliko MAASEIK of Belgium and VK OSTRAVA from the Czech Republic.

Though the country has gone through very difficult times, the management of the team, the players and their fans are all ready to join their forces for that much anticipated campaign. “It is a very big honour for us to participate in the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League” said Pantelis Tarnatoros, the Vice President of the Olympiacos Volleyball Club. “You surely know that our Volleyball team is one of the most decorated and successful within our family here at Olympiacos”.

Olympiacos mentor Dimitrios Kazazis is a former player of this club and wore that red and white jersey for many years. Looking at the opponents he said: “Belogorie BELGOROD is much more than the clear-cut favorite in the pool as their goal is to vie for the final four and seize the trophy there. Noliko MAASEIK has a very good tradition in the European Cups while VK OSTRAVA is relatively unknown but we shall not forget that Volleyball is being played at a very good level in the Czech Republic”.

Team captain Konstantinos Christofidelis – who has won two European trophies playing for the likes of Olympiacos – added: “We are very happy for being back in this competition. We all are very excited. The 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League will see the very best teams in the world all come together and play for glory. We will try to stand the very tough opponents we are going to play and will do our best to make it out of pool play and reach the Playoffs”.
