Panathinaikos A.O. announced the beginning of their cooperation with the Cuban male volleyball international Fernando Hernández for the 2022/23 season.
Panathinaikos closed a great transfer nearly a month after winning the Greek Championship title #20. They hired a top-level player with substantial experience who has left a huge mark on the courts of many countries with his individual performances – Fernando Hernández.
The 32-year-old Cuban competed for Turkey’s Halkbank (with which he won the Turkish Championship and Turkish Cup in his first term in the Ankara side in 2017/18) last year, meeting his future teammates in the CEV Challenge Cup semi-finals. Hernández, the Best Scorer of the 2011 FIVB World Cup, was Halkbank’s top scorer in 2021/22 with 417 points.
