In a thrilling conclusion to the Volley League season, Panathinaikos overturned a 0-2 playoff final series deficit to win the championship, defeating Olympiacos 3-2 in a tense 5th game, and final match. Cuban outside hitter Kenia Carcaces shone brightly, scoring 29 points to lead her team to victory. This win marks Panathinaikos’s third consecutive championship title and was marked also by coaching changes, with Dragan Nesic at the end who successfully managing the team in the final stages.
The match saw Olympiacos initially taking a lead with a 2-1 set advantage in the final game, but Panathinaikos, driven by standout performances from Kenia Carcaces and USA opposite Sherridan Atkinson, who scored 20 points, fought back to clinch the title. Despite the efforts of Olympiacos’s opposite Milica Kubura, who tallied 23 points, Panathinaikos dominated the decisive moments, securing a 26-24, 21-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-9 victory in the sets.
