GRE M: Olympiacos Parts Ways With Andrea Gardini

Olympiacos decided to move on from Italian coach Andrea Gardini after a shaky start to the season. The two sides met earlier today in a positive and open discussion, reviewing the team’s poor results — including the unexpected 3–2 loss to Kalamata — and agreed it was time for a fresh start.

Assistant coach Antonis Vourderis will take over on an interim basis and is expected to lead the team in the upcoming match against Foinikas Syros.

The club, which has won the Greek league 32 times, is dealing with a serious slump. Olympiacos has already lost two of its first three league matches and was surprisingly eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers by Guaguas Las Palmas. According to Gazzetta, the board felt Gardini could no longer turn things around.

The search for a new head coach is already underway, with the club reportedly targeting another foreign option. Olympiacos hopes to finalize the new hire before the November 22 league match.

Gardini, who joined the team for the 2024–2025 season, has coached several top European clubs, including Skra Bełchatów, Jastrzębski Węgiel, Piacenza, ZAKSA, and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn.
