GRE W: Panionios Win Their First Greek Cup in Club History

Panionios Betsson celebrated a historic moment by defeating AO Thiras 3-1 in the Final Four tournament to claim the first Women’s Greek Cup title in the club’s history.

Playing in front of a full crowd at the “Tasos Kampouris” indoor arena, the team from Nea Smyrni secured the victory after 114 minutes with set scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-27, 25-20.

Polina Rahimova led Panionios with 19 points, while Elitsa Vasileva Atanasijevic added 17 and Bianka Risticevic finished with 14. For AO Thiras, Rica Maase scored 19 points, Katarina Pavicic contributed 15 and Anastasía Shirínina added 11.

A key factor in the result was Panionios’ strong presence at the net, finishing the match with 22 blocks compared to eight for AO Thiras.

Panionios libero Maria-Aikaterini Xanthopoulou was named the Most Valuable Player of the final thanks to her outstanding defensive performance.
