Title holders P.A.O.K. Thessaloniki had a tough test at the season opening in Greek capital against Panathinaikos A.O. Athens and passed it superbly 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25).
Home team started the match in a better way. Armed with good service, especially from Hugo Guimarães and Gerasimos Kanellos, Panathinaikos managed to create a lot of problems to the reception of Nikolay Jeliazkov’s team.
Then, Cuban connection in PAOK started to work properly, turning over game into favor of their team. Both, Rolando Cepeda and Javier Jiménez ended clash with 20 points.
In Panathinaikos, Pedrosa Ferreira scored 29 points, followed by Guimarães with 14.
