After surviving tie-break thriller against P.A.O.K. Thessaloniki in semifinals, players coached by Italian expert Roberto Piazza made little mistakes in gold medal match, took advantage of the absence of Serbian opposite hitter from Kifissia, Zoran Jovanović, and reached the trophy.
Main weapon of Olympiacos was the effectiveness of the attack. The Latvian Hermans Egleskalns especially stood out in this segment of a play – 22 points. The Canadian Oleh Kovalchuk was the only player with double digits in the losing team – 10 points.
