The 43-year-old Dennis, who was one of the world’s most respected opposite hitters in the 1990s when competing for the Cuba National Team (won one FIVB World League, two NORCECA Championships, and one FIVB World Grand Champions Cup), left Portugal after three years and went to play in Italy, whose passport he possesses as well. He joined the third division (Serie A3) side Med Store Macerata.
Dennis competed in Italy for as many as 12 years during his career, wearing jerseys of big clubs such as Cucine Lube Civitanova and Leo Shoes Modena. There was a chance that a one-time MVP of the NORCECA Championship and Pan-American Cup will stay in Portugal upon leaving Sporting Clube Portugal but he decided to return to Italy after three years (Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce 2016/17).
