World Champion, World Champion, World Champion! Yes, for the third time in a row, Trentino stayed on top of the world by beating the Polish side of Jastrzebski in the final in Doha, Qatar. This is a feat that no club had ever achieved before. In the history book, Trentino is now above Milan, who had won it twice between 1990 and 1992. At the same time, Trentino made sure this trophy remained sole property of Italy.
Raphael: “We wrote another chapter of volleyball history, and not only Trentino’s history, which makes me really proud, proud of my teammates and the whole club. It was not easy to get there as favourites and win it again. We made it and I am thrilled”.
Mitar Djuric: “Starting my spell at Trento this way is just unbelievable, I am so happy, I couldn’t have imagined that. We had a great game, after the 29-31 of the first set lost, we did not put our heads down and we fought back. I only hope this is just the beginning of many more successful moments”.
Matey Kaziyski: “The best of the three? Difficult to say but it has definitely been an unbelievable emotion once again, which we have experienced as a group because we are a great team. The first set made us understand we would have needed to play even better than the level we were at and we stepped up. I dedicate this triumph to all my teammates, the club managers and the fans. We are a great team all together”.
