Prosecco DOC Imoco Conegliano swept Igor Gorgonzola Novara, their biggest rivals for trophies in Italy in the last few seasons, in Round 9 of the 2022-23 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship.
The first duel of the season between Novara and Imoco went to the latter, capable of recovering from 1-9 in the first set in Round 9’s match (played in advance) of the 2022-23 Serie A1. After that, ‘The Panthers’ totally turned the tide of the match. They brutally prevailed in the second set before emerging victorious from a tense fight in the third set: 3-0 (27-25, 25-11, 25-23).
Imoco, the titleholders, can mostly thank Isabelle Haak for the win. The Swede scored 25 points (4 blocks) and had excellent error handling. Turk Ebrar Karakurt top-scored for Novara with 15 points. Imoco are 6-0, while Novara suffered their first defeat in Serie A1 and are 5-1.
