Vero Volley Monza has officially announced that Stephen Maar, one of their most valuable players, will remain on the team for the 2023/2024 season. The top scorer for the team in the previous sports season, Maar’s robust offense, potent serving skill (43 aces), and effective blocking (43 blocks) have been critical to the team’s success.
In the upcoming season, Maar is expected to catapult Monza not just in the SuperLega CredemBanca, Italy’s premier volleyball league, but also in the CEV Challenge Cup, an international competition he clinched with Milano in the 20/21 season.
Maar’s journey traces back to his university days at McMaster University where he played volleyball from 2012 to 2016. The upcoming season will mark his seventh year in the top-tier Italian league, and his fourth consecutive season following his period with Russia’s Dinamo Moscow in 2019/2020.
Apart from his club commitments, Maar is a regular contributor to the Canadian national team and has recently completed his participation in the 2023 Volleyball Nations League (VNL).
