ITA M: Vero Volley Monza Battles Sonepar Padova in Preseason Test Match

The men’s team of Vero Volley Monza, fresh off their Korean tour, faced Sonepar Padova in their first preseason test match at Opiquad Arena, with the game ending in a 2-3 (1-3) defeat (22-25, 25-15, 19-25, 16-25, 15-13). This match serves as a crucial warm-up for the upcoming Supercoppa in Florence.

In the match, Monza started strong, with both teams trading points in the opening set before Padova pulled ahead to win 25-22. The second set saw Monza bounce back with dominant plays, especially from Rohrs and Szwarc, sealing a comfortable 25-15 victory. However, Padova regained control in the third and fourth sets, capitalizing on Monza’s struggles, winning 25-19 and 25-16, respectively for official 1-3. Monza fought back in the last played, final, fifth set, winning 15-13.

Coach Eccheli expressed optimism, noting the improvement in Rohrs’ performance: “Although he’s not yet at peak fitness, his contribution was crucial today. This week, we’ll continue working hard to enhance our game further.”
