ITA M: Milano Beats Cuneo 3–1 to Close SuperLega’s Ninth Round

Allianz Milano defeated MA Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo 3–1, closing the ninth round of the SuperLega Credem Banca and moving into a tie for sixth place in the standings.

Milano controlled the opening two sets, winning 25–16 and 25–15, before Cuneo responded with a 25–22 win in the third. Milano regained momentum in the fourth, taking the set 25–17 to secure the match.

Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers led Milano with 21 points and was selected MVP. Tatsunori Otsuka added 15 points and Francesco Recine had 14. Cuneo’s top scorers were Feral with 16 points and Ivan Zaytsev with 12.

Milano finished the match with a 55% attack efficiency and 13 blocks, compared with Cuneo’s 41% and five blocks. The match lasted 1 hour, 44 minutes and was played in front of 2,349 spectators.

Reggers said the team expected a difficult road match in Cuneo. “We started aggressively, lost some focus in the third set, but closed the fourth set well,” he said.

Milano returns to action Sunday against league-leader Perugia. Cuneo hosts Verona on the same day.
