Perugia sealed first place in the SuperLega Credem Banca regular season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Verona on Saturday night, clinching the top seed with one match still to play and securing qualification for next season’s CEV Champions League.

Playing in front of 5,189 spectators at Verona’s home arena, the visitors delivered a composed and clinical performance, winning in straight sets 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 in the opening match of the 21st round.
The contest, a rematch of last season’s Coppa Italia semifinal, saw Perugia take early control. The league leaders set the tone in the first set with aggressive serving and efficient attacking, finishing the match with a 65% success rate in attack compared to Verona’s 53%.
Wassim Ben Tara led Perugia’s scoring with 13 points, while Oleh Plotnytskyi added nine and Kamil Semeniuk contributed eight. Captain Simone Giannelli was named MVP after another steady performance. Darlan Ferreira Souza was the home side’s top scorer with 17 points, with Keita adding nine.
The win lifts Perugia to 55 points in the standings, confirming their position at the top of the table. Verona remain second on 48 points.
