ITA W: Macerata Survive, Novara Snatch Fourth, Monviso Relegated as Playoff Field Confirmed

The final round of the Serie A1 Tigotà regular season delivered high drama at both ends of the table, confirming the Scudetto Playoff matchups and sealing the relegation battle.

Cbf Balducci Hr Macerata secured survival in stunning fashion, overturning a two-set deficit to defeat Bergamo 3-2 in Treviglio. Kokkonen and Decortes led the comeback with 24 points apiece, guiding Macerata to a 15-13 tie-break victory after dropping the opening two sets. For Bergamo, Mosser scored 23 and Kipp added 20, but the loss proved costly.

Wash4Green Monviso Volley were relegated to Serie A2 following a four-set defeat to league leaders Conegliano. Zhu starred with 25 points, earning MVP honors, while Haak contributed 22. Davyskiba (17) and D’Odorico (15) fought hard for Monviso, but the result confirmed their drop.

Honda Cuneo Granda Volley also secured safety with a 3-2 win over Vallefoglia, powered by Diop’s 26 points. Omag-MT San Giovanni in M.no. stayed up despite a five-set loss to Busto Arsizio, who claimed the final playoff berth behind Obossa’s 31 points and Battista’s 20.

At the top of the standings, Igor Gorgonzola Novara climbed to fourth place after a 3-1 win over Il Bisonte Firenze. Knollema led all scorers with 20 points, while Bukilic added 18. Novara’s rise was sealed by Perugia’s five-set upset over Chieri, with Gardini delivering 23 points in a spirited comeback.

Elsewhere, Milano closed the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Scandicci, driven by Egonu’s 27 points.

The quarterfinal playoff matchups are now set: Conegliano face Busto Arsizio, Novara meet Chieri, Scandicci take on Bergamo, and Milano play Vallefoglia.
