ITA W: Home Teams Take Control in Serie A1 Quarterfinal Openers

The top four seeds protected home court in Game 1 of the Serie A1 Tigotà women’s volleyball quarterfinals, each earning a victory to gain early control of their playoff series.

Prosecco Doc A.Carraro Imoco Conegliano defeated Eurotek Laica Uyba Busto Arsizio 3-1 in a competitive contest. After cruising to a 25-16 first-set win, Conegliano dropped the second 25-22 before reasserting control with back-to-back 25-18 finishes. Isabelle Haak delivered a dominant performance with 35 points at 59% efficiency, while Zhu added 20. Busto’s captain Battista led her side with 24 points.

Igor Gorgonzola Novara also secured a four-set win over Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76. Although Chieri claimed the third set 25-22, Novara comfortably won the other three sets 25-17. Tolok paced the offense with 29 points, with Alsmeier contributing 15 and Ishikawa 10. Németh scored 17 for Chieri, but Novara’s 42% attack efficiency proved decisive.

Savino Del Bene Scandicci survived a stern challenge from Bergamo, prevailing 3-2 after a tight tie-break. Scandicci won the first and third sets, while Bergamo forced a fifth before falling 17-15. Antropova led Scandicci with 25 points and Franklin added 24. Bergamo had five players reach double figures, led by Kipp with 22.

Numia Vero Volley Milano delivered the most straightforward result, sweeping Megabox Ond. Savio Vallefoglia in straight sets in just over an hour. Egonu and Lanier each scored 20 points, and Milano totaled 12 blocks. Vallefoglia was limited to 18% attacking efficiency, with Bici scoring 13.

Game 2 is scheduled for March 4 and 5.
