ITA M: Modena Stuns Piacenza in Five Sets, Forces Game 5 Decider

Valsa Group Modena edged Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in a five-set battle, winning 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-7) to level their SuperLega Credem Banca quarterfinal series at 2-2.

The tightly contested “Derby della Via Emilia” delivered its third tie-break in four matches, with Modena pulling away decisively in the final set after 132 minutes of play.

Porro led Modena with 16 points, while Pardo Mati added 14 and was named MVP. Buchegger (13), Sanguinetti (11), and Davyskiba (10) also reached double figures. For Piacenza, Mandiraci was the top scorer with 17 points, followed by Bovolenta (16), Gutierrez (12), and Simon (10).

The series will be decided in Game 5 on March 29 at PalaPanini.

In another quarterfinal, Rana Verona swept Allianz Milano 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) to win the series 3-1 and advance. Keita led all scorers with 18 points.
