Poland and Italy remain unbeaten at the 2026 Agata Mróz-Olszewska Memorial after securing victories on the second day of the international volleyball tournament in Koszalin.
The hosts continued their impressive run with a 3-0 win over France. Poland took the opening set 25-18 before facing a much tougher challenge in the second, eventually prevailing 28-26. A 25-20 victory in the third completed a second consecutive straight-sets success.
Julia Szczurowska produced a team-high 20 points for Poland, with Julita Piasecka adding 14. France was led by Cyrielle Depie with 11 points and Eva Elouga with 10.
Italy, meanwhile, had to come from behind to overcome Ukraine 3-1. The Ukrainians claimed the first set 25-18, but Julio Velasco’s team responded strongly, dominating the second 25-14 before taking the next two sets 25-22 and 25-20.
Paola Egonu led the Italian attack with 21 points. The match also brought concern for Italy after Loveth Omoruyi was forced off following an injury early in the second set and received an initial medical assessment.
The results leave Poland and Italy with two wins from two matches. The unbeaten teams are scheduled to face each other in the final round of the tournament, providing both sides with a significant test ahead of the European Championship.
The Koszalin event is dedicated to Agata Mróz-Olszewska, the former Polish international and two-time European champion who died in 2008. The memorial competition was established in her honor in 2009.
