Alessandro Michieletto is officially back in the Italy squad after being selected for EuroVolley 2026 following a long injury layoff.
The 24-year-old outside hitter has spent much of the year dealing with physical problems. A back injury limited his involvement from January, while a foot issue suffered in July raised fresh concerns over whether he would recover in time for the European Championship.
Italy head coach Ferdinando De Giorgi has now ended the uncertainty by including Michieletto in his final 14-man roster.
Itas Trentino also confirmed that the player has completed his rehabilitation and is ready to make a gradual return to competitive action after nearly seven months away from the court. His comeback gives Italy an important attacking option ahead of the biggest tournaments of the international season.
Michieletto is joined by Mattia Bottolo, Daniele Lavia, Francesco Sani and Luca Porro among the outside hitters, while Simone Giannelli and Riccardo Sbertoli will handle the setting duties.

Italy will compete in Pool A, with group-stage matches scheduled in Naples and Modena. The knockout rounds will continue in Turin and Sofia, while Milan will host the semi-finals and finals on September 25 and 26.
Michieletto’s return adds extra firepower to De Giorgi’s team as the Azzurri prepare for another major push at EuroVolley 2026.
