Blengini
Gianlorenzo Blengini, who was also among candidates in WoV Poll to take over the bench of Italy (ended third according to your votes), is the new head coach of one of the most successful national teams in the history of volleyball. He will succeed Mauro Berruto who resigned three days ago.
Blengini was the choice of the President of the Italian VF, Carlo Magri, but his appointement will cause controversy and criticism as Federation has always been against dual role of Italian head coaches. We remind you that Blengini will be on the helm of Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova, too.
He will try to qualify Italy for the 2016 Olympics in the first attempt through the 2015 World Cup (September 8-23 in Japan). If not, the second chance will be the at the 2015 European Championship (scheduled to October 9-18).
