Novara
The runners-up Igor Gorgonzola Novara outplayed league rookies, the young team of Club Italia, 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23), making a successful debut in front of the home crowd.
The players coached by Luciano Pedullà showed two faces in the match. They started strong and comfortably took the first two sets, but blew up in the third set.
The encouraged guests had a strong opening in the fourth set (7-1), but Novara surpassed opponents in the photo finish with 26 points from Samanta Fabris. Anastasia Guerra scored 23 for Club Italia.
The Champions League silver medalists Unendo Yamamay Busto Arsizio stormed past another newcomer in Serie A1, Südtirol Neruda Bolzano, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-15). Karsta Lowe collected 23 points in the winning team. On the other side, Brayelin Martínez had 11.
Metalleghe Sanitars Montichiari, Imoco Volley Conegliano and Il Bisonte Volley Florence also scored wins.
