With 24 years he decided to leave Cuba and go abroad to follow his dream. He went to Japan, stayed there for two seasons, while then it happened. An offer from Serie A came. An offer that he has wished since he started playing the game. Fernando Hernandez Ramos signed with Molfetta and joined the most famous volleyball caravan in the world.

Hernandez is the top scorer of the league after 11 rounds, while two weeks ago he made a stunning performance by making 39 points on a single match! He was close of breaking a record!

I think Sabbi holds the record with 42 points, but it does not matter. The important thing is that we have won the game and continued with good results” started the story Hernandez, who has a Cuban teammate in Molfetta:

“I am trully proud to play alongside Raydel Hierrezuelo Aguirre. We have excellent communication, as we are thinking on the same way. Like we are brothers. It’s enough to look each other in the eyes and know what the other is thinking.”

Hernandez is also far the best server of the Serie A currently with 37 aces! The second best has 19…

“I have always tried to serve as strong as possible. I remember that Samuel (setter of the Cuban national team) insisted that I work on my jump serve every day. Now, I am the best server in the league! I have always dreamed of playing in Serie A! And I am indeed enjoying my time in Molfetta. People recognize me on the street, telling me that I am doing a good job for the club and for the city. I am very happy because of that. I am here to show there is another Cuban who is doing everything to represent his country on the best possible way.”
