Bergamo
Saturday evening brought us two amazing games in the Italian Cup. In the first semifinals, Piacenza prevailed over Montichiari after a very tough battle that lasted for almost two hours. Maja Ognjenović was brillinatly organizing the gameplay of the winning side, while she also managed to score 8 points! The top scorer in Piacenza was Floortje Meiners, with 21 points.
Still, the real drama occurred in the second semifinal game in which Bergamo performed a spectacular comeback against Casalmaggiore! After the second set it seemed that this will be an easy job for Casalmaggiore. They were in front by 2-0, while their performance in the second set was quite impressive – 25:11!!!
But…
Bergamo refused to surrender. They claimed the third set, then the fourth one as well, while in a thrilling tie-break Bergamo outplayed Casalmaggiore by 15:13 and qualified for the big finals! Celeste Plak scored 18 points for the Blue squad, Katarina Barun added 12, while the key role in this game had Vesna Čitaković-Đurišić who came in the 3rd set and completely changed the flow of the match.
The game between Piacenza and Bergamo starts today at 17:45 (CET).
