Foppapedretti took advantage of physical and psychological effect of Casalmaggiore’s success in the CEV Champions League, a few days ago – tiredness and contentment – to sweep them 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-22). Savino Del Bene Scandicci, the underdogs in series against Nordmeccanica Piacenza, caused a massive blow to the favorites in Game 1, 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14)! The Bulgarian Emiliya Nikolova led the scorers of the winning team with 18 points. The French Christina Bauer had 15 in Piacenza.
Just like Casalmaggiore, Piacenza will also have to wait until Game 2 to justify the role of the favorites.
In yesterday’s games of quarterfinals, Imoco Volley Conegliano and Liu Jo Modena took 1-0 lead in series.
