Despite having problems with injured players (Juantorena, Sabbi and Cester), Italy’s head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini has a good chemistry in the team to annul that handicap.
Italy’s National Team simply demolished Belgium in serving, making 11-2 in that segment. One player stood out – Ivan Zaytsev scored…prepare ypurself… SEVEN ACES! What a stunt! He was also the best scorer of the match with 19 points. François Lecat noted 12 for Belgium.
In a derby, this year’s FIVB World Cup winners Russia smashed world champions Poland in front of their fans in Łódź 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 25-15).
Both teams played first two weekends without several major stars each. So, some other player took advantage to impose themsleves for the Olympic Games in Rio. In Russia, it was definitely Viktor Poletaev. Young opposite stood out in today’s Pool D1 game as well, scoring 19 points. Bartosz Kurek collected 21 for Poland.
