Sir Safety Perugia officially announced they have replaced coach Slobodan Kovač with Lorenzo Bernardi.

Last seven months, Bernardi was without a club after parting ways with Turkish Halkbank Ankara. He will be presented as new head coach of Perugia this afternoon and hold his first training session afterwards. Bernardi will make his debut on Perugia bench on Sunday, November 13, against Gi Group Monza.

“Gazzetta dello Sport” revealed that Perugia President Gino Sirci planned to sack Serbian expert as from Sunday, November 6, (after third consecutive defeat in Serie A1) despite giving contrary statements. Head of Perugia firstly contacted Radostin Stoytchev, but Bulgarian coach requested conditions (regard to staff and organization, not money) that club could not meet.

The fact that Perugia narrowly avoided loss to Exprivia Molfetta, two days ago, was obviously too much for Sirci. So, he contacted Lorenzo Bernardi who instantly said YES. He was already close to take over Perugia, two years ago.
