Casalmaggiore
European champions had a toughest challenge so far in Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship, against title holders Imoco Conegliano. It was a duel of two previous Italian champions, duel of two teams that is always filled with intensity and duel of two teams that have a lot of rival’s ex-players (for instance Ortolani, Skorupa and coach Mazzanti, who took title with Casalmaggiore in 2015).
Last season they played two tiebreakers but tonight Casalmaggiore prevailed in four sets, partially 25-20, 25-23, 17-25, 30-28. Croatian Samanta Fabris topped Casalmaggiore with 31 points. Mexican Samantha Bricio had 17 in Conegliano.
Südtirol Bolzano (American Michelle Barstch 11 pts.) beat Club Italia 3-0, Il Bisonte Firenze won a thriller on road against Igor Gorgonzola Novara 3-2 while Savino Scandicci (Czech Aneta Havlíčková 17 pts.) defended Saugella Monza 3-1.
