As one of his main attacking options Ivan Zaytsev was removed from the national team due to the controversial „footwear case“, Blengini was forced to summon a player to replace him at the preparations. Despite the fact many fans in Italy hoped he will call Osmany Juantorena, Blengini’s s choice has fallen on Giulio Sabbi, the new player of Azimut Modena.
So, the preliminary 18-man list of the Italian NT for the 2017 EuroVolley now looks like this:

Opposites – Luca Vettori (Trentino); Gabriele Nelli (Padova); Giulio Sabbi (Modena).
