Defending Serie A1 champions Novara beat Il Bisonte Firenze on the road without difficulties, with the exception of a short period in the second set when the hosts had a slight chance to extend a duel. Paola Egonu established herself as the main figure of the match, notching 22 points for the winning side. Indre Sorokaite did her best to push Il Bisonte throughout the encounter, scoring 15 points.
Pomì Casalmaggiore achieved the first win of the 2017/18 season in Serie A1. The most recent CEV Champions League winners from Italy managed to prevail in the match against the hosts Foppapedretti Bergamo, 3-1 (25-12, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23), thanks to Dominican bomber Brayelin Martínez, who made 24 points. Another South American player highlighted the game – the Venezuelan Roslandy Acosta, who scored 17 points for ’Foppa’.
Just like Novara, Imoco Volley Conegliano kept the perfect score in Serie A1 as they swept newcomers Lardini Filottrano. The Mexican Samantha Bricio topped Conegliano with 16 points, including 3 of 9 aces of her team. The Slovenian youngster Lana Ščuka noted 11 points for Filottrano.
