ITA W: Imoco achieve big win against titleholders Novara in marathon encounter

Imoco Volley Conegliano have settled at the top of an Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship Serie A1 standings after beating Igor Gorgonzola Novara in Round 10 derby by a 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 16-25, 25-23, 15-11).

Imoco shut down defending champions Novara in a marathon encounter on the road to take the lead in Serie A1 with 9-1 and 26 points, squeezing Novara out to the second place with 8-2 and 24 points.

An American Kimberly Hill and Mexican Samantha Bricio were the most deserving players for Imoco’s big win with 26 and 17 points, respectively.

In Novara, Paola Egonu put down 26 points, while the Dutch Celeste Plak added 22.
