Since they granted a request of outside hitter Oleg Antonov to go to play in Turkey, Vibo Valentia were forced to find him a replacement for the rest of the season.

The choice of SuperLega club has fallen on the Brazilian Sérgio Felix, who already played for two sides in 2017/18. He started the season with Corinthians-Guarulhos in his home country, playing the Paulista Championship before arriving at the Cypriot champions Omonia, in November. With them, Felix competed in the 2018 CEV Champions League qualifications and, after being eliminated by Jastrzębski Węgiel, he played the 2018 CEV Cup.

Felix was named MVP of the 2014/15 Spanish Superliga playoff finals in his first season abroad, winning the national title with Unicaja Almería.

Felix averaged 11.5 points for Omonia in European cups this season, being more efficient in home games.
