JPN M: Suntory Sunbirds at top of Japan’s SV.League

Suntory Sunbirds Osaka delivered a powerful message to the rest of the Daido Life SV.League this weekend, sweeping both matches against city rivals Osaka Bluteon to pull clear at the top of the standings.

Playing in front of more than 6,000 fans each night at Ookini Arena Maishima, the reigning champions won 3–1 and followed up with a convincing 3–0 victory next day. The results give Suntory a 15–1 record and a seven-point cushion over Bluteon, who now sit second.

Opposite Dmitriy Muserskiy once again led the charge, with strong support from Ran Takahashi as Suntory controlled key moments across both matches. Head coach Olivier Lecat called the double win “very meaningful” as the league heads into a busy stretch.

Elsewhere, JTEKT Stings Aichi and Hiroshima Thunders split their weekend series, while five-set battles saw Voreas Hokkaido and Toray Arrows Shizuoka share the points.
