The 10th weekend of Japan’s women’s Daido Life SV.League produced a moments full of twists, led by a headline-grabbing result from PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku.
Playing a double header at home, PFU pushed defending champions Osaka Marvelous to the limit on Saturday before falling in five sets, then turned the tables on Sunday with a composed four-set victory. The split was enough to keep PFU sixth in the standings, while Osaka held onto fourth place despite the setback.
In other matches, the battle for the top five tightened. Gunma Green Wings claimed two away wins over Saitama Ageo Medics, highlighted by a standout performance on Sunday that swung a five-set thriller their way. Gunma’s sweep in Monday’s rematch lifted them level on wins with Osaka, separated only by points, while Ageo remained tenth.
At the summit, leaders NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki continued their dominance with back-to-back road wins against Victorina Himeji. The victories preserved NEC’s perfect head-to-head record in the league and extended their advantage at the top of the table.
Second-placed Saga Hisamitsu Springs also enjoyed a productive weekend, securing two home wins over Okayama Seagulls. One match went the distance, but the Springs showed their depth and resilience to collect maximum points.
Mid-table movement saw Queenseis Kariya defend home court twice against Denso Airybees Koriyama, while Kurobe Aqua Fairies climbed a place after two wins over bottom side Aranmare Yamagata.
Rounding out the leg, Astemo Rivale Ibaraki boosted their campaign with a pair of home victories against Toray Arrows Shiga, adding valuable points as the race intensifies heading into the new year.
