VNL W: Japan Overcomes Germany

Japan maintained their strong start to the Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 victory over Germany in Québec, Canada.

The world No. 4 side delivered another polished performance to secure the win in straight sets. Japan controlled the opening two sets and showed composure under pressure in the third to close out the match 25-20, 25-15, 26-24.

Yoshino Sato led the Japanese offense with 20 points, while Yukiko Wada contributed 16 as Japan consistently found answers against a German team that struggled to impose itself for much of the contest.

Germany improved significantly in the final set and briefly threatened to extend the match after fighting back from a late deficit. The Europeans earned a set point at 24-23, but Japan responded with three consecutive points to complete the sweep. Camilla Weitzel paced Germany with 13 points.

Result: Japan bt Germany 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 26-24)
