Edgar highlighted the JT Thunders in in the first match of the V-League for the 2017/18 season by making 43 points in a five-set win over Suntory Sunbirds Osaka, for which the Cuban Yadrian Escobar notched 24 points.
In the other Men’s game of the opening day, Panasonic Panthers Hirakata easily downed F.C. Tokyo with 14 points from Kunihiro Shimizu.
Hisamitsu-Springs
At the premiere of the Women’s V-League, Hisamitsu Springs Kobe beat titleholders NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki on the road in straight sets, leaving the rivals on 9 points only in the 3rd set! Foluke Akinradewo, the U.S. middle blocker, topped Hisamitsu with 20 points (3 kill blocks and 3 aces) while Yuki Ishii added 16 points.
Ageo Medics achieved a four-set triumph over Denso Airybees Nishio in which the Cuban Kenia Carcaces made 30 points.
