WCHY M: Russia demolish Iran to play for the gold

After a good battle in the first set, it was practically a one-team show at the Baja California High Performance Center with Russia displaying a festival of serves and blocks to stop the Asian champions.

Victor Poletaev led Russia with 21 points, including three aces and one block, while Pavel Pankov had a tournament-high 8 aces en route to accumulate 12 points. Dmitry Volkov and Maxim Troynin contributed 11 and 10 points respectively with Troynin registering five blocks.

Javad Hekmati had 8 points as the scoring leader of Iran while Mohammadjavad Manaviznehad added seven.

Russia held a 12-5 advantage in the service aces category while out-blocking Iran 11-6. The winners landed 36 attacks to 28 by the losers.
