In the semifinal Argentina outplayed Canada 3-1 and the first set was one of the most interesting on the tournament. It ended 34-32 for Argentina.
Opposite Bruno Lima Basolu led Argentina with 19 points, on 17 spikes and 2 blocks; outside hitter Brian Melgarejo scored 18 points, on 16 spikes and 2 blocks; middle blocker Emanuel Fabian Flores scored 17 points, on 11 spikes and a match-high 6 blocks; and outside hitter Nicolas Lazo added 10 points, on 7 spikes, 2 blocks and 1 ace.
Canada ’s top scorers were outside hitter Jason DeRocco with 17 points, on 14 spikes, 2 blocks and 1 ace; opposite Bradley Robert Gunter scored 13 points, on 11 spikes and 2 blocks; and Stephen Timothy Maar scored 12 points.
