NORCECA M: Canada leave St. Lucia at 30 points only, Mexico and Costa Rica improve to 2-0, 1st win of Dominicans

In Pool B, Canada swept Saint Lucia, partially 25-9, 25-13, 25-8, to successfully set of their campaign in the championship that gathers the best national teams of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Canada’s captain John Gordon Perrin led all scorers with 14 points. St. Lucia’s receiver Joseph Clercent made 7.

Both Mexico and Costa Rica achieved the second win in the tournament by beating their rivals in straight sets. Mexico downed Martinique thanks to 12 points from Jorge Barajas. Costa Rica’s captain Alberto Blanco pushed his team over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with 14 points.

Finally, in Poo A, Dominican Republic joined the USA at the top of the standings with a confident triumph over Guatemala in their first match in the NORCECA Championship. The captain of the winning team, Wilfrido Hernández, scored match-high 21 points.

The best three teams from the tournament will secure their berth in the 2018 FIVB World Championship.
