This victory for Petron spoiled the return of Dindin Santiago Manabat and a debut of the Spanish star Milagros Collar.
Stephanie Niemer led Proton to the win with 17 points.
“It’s always nice to win. But that was a rough game for us, I think. That wasn’t out best. So, I think going into the practices this week we’d get a little bit more focused and work on the things that we’re kind of lacking today but we’re lucky we got the win. We’re happy with that,” says Niemer, who is probably the world record holder for the most scored aces in one game.
Katherine Bell added 14 markers built on 11 kills and three blocks for Petron. Collar and Courtney Felinskii tallied 12 hits apiece on a losing effort for Foton.
In the other game, STA Lucia defeatedCignalin four sets 25-21, 13-25, 13-25, 19-25. Also, Generika Ayala lost the game on the home court against Plot Home FIBR 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 29-27, 13-25, 15-10).
