Matt Anderson and Aaron Russell shared the award for the best U.S. male indoor volleyball player in 2019. For the older one, Anderson, it was the 6th award from the USAV, 2nd in a row. Russell was honored for the first time.
Both players were involved in winning the silver medal of the national team at the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League and a bronze medal at the 2019 FIVB World Cup. Also, Anderson and Russell helped USA Men qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games via 2019 FIVB International Qualifier in the Netherlands. Anderson was the best scorer of the national team in 2019 with 268 points, while Russell was second with 223 points.
