An experienced outside hitter Javier Jiménez, the former Cuba National Team member, was discharged from the hospital. He completed without difficulty the epidemiological surveillance stage after being tested positive for the new COVID-19, the head of the Cuban Volleyball Federation (FCV) Ariel Saínz explained. Following the recovery, Jiménez, who was the first Cuban athlete to play abroad without having to defect from the country, will stay in Estonia – where he played this season.
The Rio Olympics participant was tested when it was learned that one of the officials of his club Saaremaa VK got infected from coronavirus after the CEV Challenge Cup match against Italy’s Allianz Milano.
Before Jiménez one more volleyball player recovered from COVID-19 – Earvin Ngapeth.
