Men’s and women’s V.League shortened because of Olympics, strict COVID-19 related rules imposed

The V.League held an online press conference regarding the 2020/21 season and adopted guidelines and schedules for both men’s and women’s top divisions. What’s different compared to many seasons before are two things: the shortened competition calendar as well as regulations that are to be followed prior and during matches to avoid spreading the COVID-19.

The opening of both championships is set for October 17 but they will be shortened due to the Olympic Games next year. Men will end their competition on April 4, while women will finish on February 21. This is similar to the format which China put into the action for its top divisions last season (which was supposed to be the season prior to the Olympics before the postponement due to coronavirus pandemic). Also, the new tournament called V.Cup will be held in February.

Just like the Russian federation, the V.League imposed regulations related to preserving the health of the spectators and clubs. These are:
