Beating Sporting CP by a 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-20) in the final of the 2021 Portuguese Women’s Taça de Portugal in Matosinhos, Leixões SC won the title in the competition for the 9th time, the first time in 30 years. Leixões is now the team with the most trophies in the national cup in the women’s competition, replacing Castêlo da Maia GC (8 trophies) at the top of the all-time list.

Uruguayan María Noel Pandulli top-scored Leixões with 18 points. Carina Moura set up 5 blocks. Brazilian Fernanda Silva made 81 % reception (21 digs, 1 error, 67 % excellent). Vanessa Paquete tallied 13 points for Sporting. Brazilian Bruna Gianlorenço ‘Bruninha’ made 73 % reception (22 digs, 41 % excellent).

It should be noted that all referees, line judges, statisticians, and ball catchers in the entire Final Four were women, which has happened in Portugal and, probably, beyond for the first time ever.
