Defeating TJ Spartak Myjava confidently in the 4th match of the 2020/21 Slovakian Men’s Extraliga playoff finals (3-0: 25-19, 25-21, 25-12), Rieker UJS Komárno won the series by a 3-1 and got crowned national champions for the first time ever. Peter Mlynarčík stood out for the new titleholders in the last game of the season with 19 points, including 4 aces, while Matej Kubš made 91 % reception (11 digs, 55 % excellent).

By claiming the championship, Komárno achieved the greatest success in club history, doing it as the 4th-seed in the playoffs. So far, they triumphed in the Slovak Cup once, in 2015. Entering the finals was the best-ever result of Myjava, who are a part of the country’s top flight for 16 seasons.
