Ahly Club of Egypt seeks a new achievement when they start their campaign at the 2013 Women's African Club Championship in Antananarivo, Madagascar on Thursday. In the last three editions of the competition Kenya Prisons claimed the title and hence they didn't have the chance to play at the prestigious FIVB Club World Championship.

Ahly has 5 titles under their name but the last was in 2009, just one year before the competition acted as a qualifier for the FIVB Club World Championships starting from 2010 onwards. In the last three editions of the competition Kenya Prisons claimed the title and hence they didn’t have the chance to play at the prestigious FIVB Club World Championship.

It is a dream for all our players to qualify to the World championship, it a new objective for them,” said Ahly head coach Mamdoh Ismail.

We have now a new generation including young players who don’t taste the victory in such big competition like the two centers Nirmeen Seif Elnassr and Norhan Rezk and the outside hitter Sara Ahmed. Those players are more enthusiastic to win the gold medal in this competition to be exposed at the international level.”

We can’t use the new generation alone and so we added some experiences to the squad like the middle blocker Engy El Shamy and the sisters Sherihan and Nahla Abdelfattah and from this mixture we need to enter a new era of the club’s career.

I know we have to do a hard work to beat all the strong opponents specially the Kenyan and Algerian clubs but we have the capacitance to do it.

Al Ahly was crowned African champions 5 times but the last was 4 years age in 2009. In the last three editions Ahly didn’t participate in 2010 and 2012 and they were bronze medallists in 2011.
