World Grand Prix Preliminary Round Cities confirmed

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) is pleased to announce the confirmation of all the host cities for the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2013 Preliminary Round following the verification that Pool A will be held in Campinas, Brazil during Week One. The World Grand Prix is the FIVB’s annual international volleyball competition involving the world’s best female players. This year the Grand Prix will include an unprecedented 20 teams (a total of 16 teams featured in the 2012 edition) with the Finals returning to Sapporo in Japan for the first time since 2009.

Following the confirmation of all the host cities, the World Grand Prix schedule is expected to be announced in May.

Meanwhile, the World League Intercontinental Round competition calendar has undergone some modifications with Salta replacing Mar del Palta as host city when home team Argentina meet France on Friday, July 5. The home matches will take place at Salta’s Estadio Elmi.

The Iran Volleyball Federation confirmed the Azadi Hall in Tehran – which also played host to the Asian Youth Boys’ Volleyball Championship in November last year – as the venue for the home matches against Germany and Serbia while Iran’s second home match against Germany is now scheduled to take place on July 13, a day earlier than originally planned with their match in Italy on June 30 now scheduled to start at 18:00 local time.

Changes to the dates and times of the matches between Bulgaria and Poland were also announced. The matches will take place in the Bulgarian city of Varna, as originally scheduled, but on July 12 and 13 with the second starting at 21:00 local time.

It was also confirmed that the home matches in Canada will start at 19:00 local time except for the second match between Canada and The Netherlands, which will begin at 16:00.
